‘Biodiversity Bible’ published: corsus is part of it
The ESRS Services platform published the ‘Biodiversity Bible’ at the beginning of the week. It lists companies that advise on biodiversity in German-speaking countries. corsus is of course part of it, because how biodiversity can be measured and integrated into the sustainability management of companies has long been an integral part of corsus’ consulting services.
Above all, companies are required to integrate the protection and promotion of biodiversity into their management processes. The management of biodiversity in companies works in the same way as the management of other sustainability issues: First, the status quo is analysed in order to define hot spots and starting points. Subsequently, goals are defined on this basis, measures are derived, a budget is set and responsibilities are assigned. As part of the status quo analysis, it is essential to trace the supply chains back to their origin, as this is where the greatest leverage for protecting biodiversity usually lies. By calculating the biodiversity footprint (analogous to the climate footprint) of our own products and services, the status quo is recorded and future developments are monitored. The biodiversity footprint can be used to create a key performance indicator (KPI) that includes other environmental footprints, such as the climate footprint or the water footprint. It is therefore able to depict the environmental performance of individual products or product portfolios.
The developed KPI and the individual key figures from which it is formed can be integrated into existing management systems and used as a basis for decisions: For example, in product development or as part of investment decisions.
In addition to consulting, corsus is also involved in the Biodiversity in Good Company network to promote the protection of biodiversity together and in dialogue with other companies.
