corsus moderates group work on ecological transformation and climate impact adaptation at tourism conference
On 7 April 2025, Tourismus-Agentur Schleswig-Holstein GmbH (TA.SH) hosted the first conference for the Schleswig-Holstein 2030 Tourism Strategy in Neumünster. After introductory words from State Secretary Julia Carstens from the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Labour, Technology and Tourism, keynote speeches, best-practice examples and a panel discussion, Nynke Hack, Christina Mumm (PhD) and Krishan Gairola (PhD), as well as the moderator Christopher Scheffelmeier, moderated the group work on field of action 5 ‘Ecological transformation and climate impact adaptation’ of the tourism strategy.
The event brought together around 170 participants from the tourism industry, politics and business. The conference served as a platform to promote the implementation of the tourism strategy and the exchange of important findings and perspectives. In addition to the substantive discussions, networking played an important role. Participants were able to engage in lively dialogue and act as multipliers for the new steps in the strategy. The press was also well represented.
Dr Bettina Bunge, Managing Director of Tourismus-Agentur Schleswig-Holstein GmbH, and Britta Franke, Head of Implementation Management Tourism Strategy Schleswig-Holstein 2030, welcomed the participants. State Secretary Julia Carstens emphasised the strong starting position of Schleswig-Holstein, which as a federal state is in first place ahead of Bavaria for the first time in the discipline of longer holiday stays. The tourism strategy serves to further develop sustainable quality tourism in the state. Tourism in Schleswig-Holstein is an important economic factor with over 170,000 employees subject to social insurance contributions and an annual gross turnover of around 10.4 billion euros. Despite these positive figures, there are numerous challenges, particularly in the area of sustainable development and the recruitment and retention of skilled labour. The conference offered participants insights into the current implementation status of the strategy, including best-practice examples of transformation and climate impact adaptation. A new set of key figures is intended to help improve the monitoring and management of tourism development and measure the impact of tourism development in Schleswig-Holstein. Lead projects were developed for most of the strategy’s fields of action, and their profiles were on display in the conference foyer. Here, participants were able to contribute their comments, ideas and further suggestions.
The group work moderated by corsus focussed on four flagship projects in field of action 5, ecological transformation and climate impact adaptation. The participants were asked to contribute their perspectives and jointly develop an initial collection of ideas for the flagship projects. The content centred on ‘climate pilots’, ‘crisis response skills’, the ‘innovation network’ and ‘nature and national parks’. The drafts of the flagship projects are recorded by corsus in fact sheets and further processed by the implementation management team.
We would like to thank Ms Drews and Ms Franke from the Implementation Management of the Schleswig-Holstein 2030 Tourism Strategy for the successful event and the excellent cooperation. We are looking forward to the sustainable development of tourism in Schleswig-Holstein.
