corsus presents life cycle assessment results at the Austrian World Summit in Vienna
On 3 June 2025, the Austrian World Summit (AWS) took place in Vienna organised by the Arnold Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative. The motto of this year’s conference is ‘UNITE IN ACTION – TERMINATE POLLUTION’. At a press conference held as part of the Summit Dr Ulrike Eberle, presented the results of a life cycle assessment (LCA) carried out by corsus on behalf of SUN AG.
SUN AG from Switzerland commissioned corsus to carry out a first environmental impact assessment of MINIMEALs compared to an average diet in Germany. MINIMEALs are a high performance food based on purely plant-based ingredients that provides all the nutrients needed for a day. In an initial analysis, corsus assessed the effects on climate change, biodiversity and water scarcity as well as land use, food waste and the amount of packaging generated by the provision of MINIMEALs and compared them with those of an average of an average diet in Germany.
The initial results show: MINIMEALs perform better than the average German diet in four out of six parameters when compared at the level of kilocalories provided; MINIMEALs are not worse in any of the parameters. If the average diet is compared with MINIMEALs under the assumption that the average diet would provide all the nutrients required for the day, then MINIMEALs cause at most half the environmental impact of the average diet for all the parameters considered. For some parameters, MINIMEALs are even better by a factor of four to six.
In a more detailed analysis, the specific supply chains of MINIMEALs will now be analysed and the comparison will be expanded.
