International Food LCA Conference from the 13th-16th October 2020. Join us!
The International Food LCA Conference will take place from 13th to the 16th of October 2020. This year the conference has the motto “towards sustainable agri-food systems”. corsus is one of the four organizers of the conference this year. Dr. Ulrike Eberle of corsus has been a member of the scientific committee of the biennial conference for many years, and has been chair of the committee for two years.
Due to Corona, the conference will be organized virtually for the first time. The virtual format posed a number of challenges and the proven conference concept had to be adapted in advance. We are convinced that we succeeded! The virtual format also offers opportunities: the most important thing is certainly the saving of many tons of greenhouse gases, since not 500 participants from all over the world will travel to Berlin. It was not easy to adapt the conference program, especially considering the different time zones around the world. But here, too, we found a solution that, in our opinion, offers many advantages: This year, for example, the conference presentations will be available online for all participants throughout October, and there will be an opportunity to write to the speakers via a chat function and thus engage in a direct dialogue that will certainly contribute to better networking of life cycle assessment researchers for more sustainable food systems worldwide. On the conference days, there will be moderated discussion forums on the conference topics in the morning and late afternoon, providing space for moderated discussion with the speakers – something that is otherwise often neglected at conferences. The discussion forums will be recorded so that they can at least be viewed if the time difference does not allow participation.
And of course there will be an opening ceremony on the first day with a panel discussion, which will be moderated by Anke Butscher from corsus.
