FRoSTA wins German Sustainability Award again
FRoSTA AG has won the German Sustainability Award for the fourth time! We are delighted that the expert jury has honoured FRoSTA AG this year as a role model for sustainable transformation in the “Meat, Fish and Proteins” category and congratulate them warmly! corsus has been supporting the frozen food producer on sustainability issues since 2008.
FRoSTA AG was honoured with the German Sustainability Award for the first time back in 2012 – at the time as “Germany’s most sustainable brand”. In 2017, FRoSTA was awarded the anniversary prize “10 years of the German Sustainability Award”. In 2020, FRoSTA won the “Special Award” for the paper-based packaging developed by FRoSTA for frozen products. This year, FRoSTA was honoured for its products that promote the “meat revolution”. The “Meat, fish and protein processing” category recognises companies in the food industry that are “pioneers in the responsible production of meat, fish and their alternatives”. FRoSTA was honoured “because the company has made particularly effective, exemplary contributions to transformation, thereby setting an example and sending the right signals in its industry and beyond”, according to the jury’s statement. The award ceremony will take place on 23 November in Düsseldorf.
Among other things, the Bremerhaven-based company is committed to protecting global fish stocks and biodiversity in general. This is why the company is also a partner in the “BioVal – Biodiversity Valuing and Valuation” research project, working together with the participating universities to find out how biodiversity can be effectively protected and promoted in the supply chain. FRoSTA has been offering vegetarian and vegan products and ready meals for a very long time in order to support a transformation towards a more plant-based diet. This is a very good step, as a change in diet urgently requires sustainable vegetarian and vegan products – especially in the convenience sector. Sustainable protein sources are a key component of plant-based offerings – and FRoSTA has recently been recognised for precisely this. corsus is currently leading a project on the sustainability assessment of protein sources on behalf of the Federal Environment Agency.
Since 2008, corsus has been advising FRoSTA on climate protection and sustainability strategies and has supported the implementation of the calculation of the environmental impact of frozen products in the merchandise management system. We look forward to continuing our co-operation and congratulate them once again!
