Future concept ‘WestküsteSDG’ at regional conference
corsus presented the interim results of the development of the ‘WestküsteSDG’ future concept at the regional conference of the West Coast Regional Co-operation in Heide. This concept focusses on the sustainable orientation and development of the economy in the West Coast region of Schleswig-Holstein.
The regional conference offers representatives from business, science and politics the opportunity to exchange views on topics relating to sustainable economic development, to network and to follow current developments.
The future concept ‘WestküsteSDG’ is part of the federal competition ‘Future Region’, which is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. The aim is to strengthen regional economic structures, promote networking between economic players and create and strengthen space for innovation.
Based on a comprehensive inventory, a strong commitment to sustainable transformation on the part of companies was identified. At the same time, it became clear that structured collaboration between many stakeholders is necessary to enable change. In addition, the role of the public sector and the legal framework were identified as key drivers for the sustainable orientation of the economy.
In spring 2024, Anke Butscher accompanied two workshops to prepare the ‘WestküsteSDG’ future concept. The vision, mission, guiding principles and goals for a sustainable economy in the region were developed in close collaboration with the four districts on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein, the economic development agencies, the chambers of industry and commerce and representatives from various economic sectors.
The thematic focus of the future concept lies in the three transformation areas of energy/climate protection/adaptation, circular economy and pollution-free environment as well as equal opportunities and human well-being
The defined goals emphasise the importance of active cooperation between the private and public sectors and the need for training courses on topics such as the circular economy and resource conservation. In view of the shortage of skilled labour, a modern and inclusive corporate culture plays a central role in the objectives of the future concept.
By the end of October 2024, corsus will finalise the future concept in collaboration with the four districts, the chambers of industry and commerce and the business development agencies. It will form the basis for applying for funding to implement the defined goals and measures, which can be realised from 2025.
