Consultancy and support for the Sustainability Code declaration of HKL Baumaschinen GmbH

In accordance with the CSR Directive Implementation Act, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, HKL Baumaschinen GmbH is one of the companies required to report on both sustainability reporting and human rights due diligence. In addition, the company is increasingly receiving enquiries about its own sustainability performance. For this reason, HKL was looking for presentation options that are optimally associated with added value for the company and can be used strategically. The German Sustainability Code (DNK) was chosen as the presentation option and corsus was commissioned with the management.

Firstly, corsus clarified the objectives and target groups of HKL’s sustainability reporting in order to provide an introduction to the regulatory framework and the system of the DNK. In the next step, an internal stakeholder analysis was carried out to determine the interests and expectations of the stakeholders in relation to sustainability. The results of the stakeholder analysis served as the basis for the materiality analysis. HKL used this analysis to prioritise its key sustainability issues for the company in consultation with corsus. Medium and long-term goals were developed for the prioritised sustainability topics, which are intended to guide the company’s actions, strategy and processes as well as environmental and social issues. In a deep dive, HKL analysed its use of natural resources, its resource management and its climate-relevant emissions and which activities it is already implementing in this regard and which control options are available to the company. The same was done for relevant social aspects such as employee rights, equal opportunities, human rights and community. The collected results were compiled by corsus according to the logic of the Sustainability Code and moulded into the Sustainability Code declaration. corsus wrote the first draft for HKL, agreed it with the management and entered the final content into the Sustainability Code database. The Sustainability Code declaration of HKL Baumaschinen GmbH was published in 2023.
