Future Concept West Coast SDG

The ‘WestküsteSDG’ project was funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection as part of the federal ‘Future Region’ competition. The funding programme pursues the approach of rethinking the economy and the region and developing a strategy for the future. The focus is on promoting sustainable economic activity in the region and the expansion and further development of corresponding structures – together with local stakeholders. corsus supported the process, concept development and stakeholder participation for the development of objectives and measures.

The future concept focuses on the three transformation areas ‘Energy, climate protection and climate adaptation’, ‘Circular economy and pollution-free environment’ and ‘Human well-being and equal opportunities’. The vision and mission describe the West Coast region as a nationwide pacemaker for sustainable economic activity that relies on strong and interdisciplinary cooperation for the common good.

corsus conceptualised, moderated and accompanied the project group meetings and consultations at which the goals and measures were further developed. Representatives of the four districts on the west coast, their business development organisations, chambers of industry and commerce and business representatives were involved in developing the objectives and measures.

corsus prepared the results of the first project phase (vision, mission, guiding principles, transformation areas, goals, initial ideas for measures) in order to develop the necessary measures with the stakeholders on this basis. The wishes and recommendations of the representatives involved were incorporated into the concept and corsus developed a catalogue of objectives and measures for all three transformation areas, including a roadmap as a timetable for implementation. The final future concept was created by corsus from the catalogues of measures, the roadmap and the timing of the measures.
