Hamburg’s ‘Economy shapes the future’ dialogue series
corsus designed and supported the dialogue series ‘Wirtschaft gestaltet Zukunft’ for the Ministry for the Environment, Climate, Energy and Agriculture (BUKEA) of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg (FHH).
The three-part dialogue series ‘Economy Shapes the Future’ was launched to promote an open and innovative discourse between various stakeholders from business, civil society and municipal administration and to provide impetus for sustainable economic development in Hamburg. The background to the series of dialogues was the coalition agreement between the SPD and the Green party (BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN), in which an exchange with stakeholders on the ‘sustainable restructuring of the economy’ was agreed.
The aims of the dialogue series were:
- To create a basis for the economy’s contribution to the sustainability and climate goals of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg
- To encourage the participants to think and provide inspiration
- To give the various stakeholders the opportunity to exchange views and contribute their positions and ideas
The character of the dialogues was designed by corsus to be discursive and innovative in order to provide space for free thinking and creative impulses, independent of fixed and previously known positions.
The dialogue started with an overview of the history of the economy and how it is embedded in society and current sustainability challenges, before moving on to a future perspective and discussing various visionary economic models and analysing examples of disruptive and innovative companies. Finally, the space was opened up for central topics of the sustainable reorganisation of the economy in Hamburg. Opportunities for collaboration were found and project plans were forged. Overall, the three-part dialogue series was characterised by an impressive diversity of discourse, professional depth and an exciting dramaturgy of events. And Hamburg is continuing to work on it.
