Common Good Balance Sheet
Systematically capturing sustainability – with the Economy for the Common Good (ECG)-Matrix.
The Economy for the Common Good balance sheet illustrates how municipalities and districts integrate ecological, social and economic considerations into their administrative activities, thereby contributing to socio-ecological transformation. This reporting framework is rooted in an economic model based on values that prioritize the common good. At its core, the Economy for the Common Good matrix evaluates municipalities’ contributions to the common good or community well-being. It assesses their alignment with fundamental values – human dignity, solidarity, justice, ecological sustainability, and transparency, and relates these to key stakeholder groups: suppliers, financial partners, citizens, businesses, employees and the wider social environment.
The Economy for the Common Good offers municipalities the opportunity to embed sustainability in a systematic and value-based way.
