Research field: resilient municipalities
Resilient in times of change.
Municipalities bear diverse and simultaneously emerging challenges, amplified by climate change, social polarisation, social inequality, economic insecurity and tight budgets. At the same time, citizens’ expectations for transparent decision-making, participation opportunities and a resilient and efficient administration are increasing. These expectations are complemented by increasing demands for climate protection, a sustainable city development and the management of scarce resources. Work pressure, the complexity of tasks and the need for effective collaboration and leadership are additional challenges within the administration. Municipalities must further develop their structures, competencies, and forms of cooperation for meeting these challenges while systematically strengthening their resilience.

corsus is conducting research into
- how democratic, social, ecological, personnel and structural dimensions of municipal resilience can be jointly considered and translated into practical opportunities of action for the administration,
- how co-design processes must be designed in order to have an impact on the municipal level.
- how control, participation, and decision-making processes in the governance systems can look like,
- how municipal budgets can be designed in an impact-based manner,
- how municipal data management can be established as a foundation for control and evident-based decision-making.
